In a cinematic landscape often saturated with formulaic rom-coms, 'Little Hearts' emerges as a refreshingly sincere and humorous take on love, loss, and self-discovery. Director Sai Marthand crafts a story that feels both familiar and novel, anchored by the relatable turmoil of post-exam adolescence. The film follows Akhil, whose failure in the crucial EAMCET exam coincides with a painful heartbreak, propelling him into a transformative journey at a long-term coaching institute. There, he meets the enigmatic Khatyayani, and his determined, often comical pursuit to win her heart—despite a baffling initial rejection—forms the emotional core of the narrative. Marthand's direction excels in balancing lighthearted comedy with genuine dramatic weight, ensuring the film never feels trivial. Mouli delivers a standout performance as Akhil, perfectly capturing the character's transition from a dejected youth to a determined romantic with charming vulnerability and impeccable comic timing. Shivani Nagaram as Khatyayani is equally compelling, bringing a layered depth to a character that could have been merely enigmatic. The supporting cast, including Rajiv Kanakala and S.S. Kanchi, provide excellent foils and heartfelt moments. Technically, the film is polished, with vibrant cinematography that mirrors the emotional highs and lows of the story, and a soundtrack that subtly underscores key moments without overpowering them. While the runtime of 128 minutes is generally well-paced, a few segments in the second act could have been tighter. Overall, 'Little Hearts' is a delightful and insightful film that resonates with authenticity.
